Welcome to the Redesigned Website

Kate at the computer

Hello there! I’m thrilled to show you around the redesigned Cookie and Kate website. The previous website served us well for over ten years, and I hope this one sets us up for another decade of new Cookie and Kate recipes. I love sharing them with you. This project took over three years with many stops and starts, and I’m so glad it’s finally done. It’s a beauty!

When I was expecting our daughter, I reached out to the CultivateWP team thinking we could get this done before she arrived. Then, life threw us some serious curve balls including my brother’s life-threatening wakeboarding accident, and I had to hit pause. I owe a giant thank you to Duane and Bill for their patience, understanding and dedication to getting this right.

We officially launched the site last month and finalized a few features last week. I’ll walk you through the changes today. Here we go, starting with the new table of contents feature that you’ll see from time to time!

Explore the Home Page

home page

I’m so excited to offer more options on the home page! You’ll find the latest recipes at the top, followed by seasonal highlights and other fun features. Check cookieandkate.com to see what’s new!

Browse the Menu

browse the menu

Did you know that you can expand the menu by hovering over All Recipes? There are so many ways to explore recipes on this website, but here’s a great starting point.

Filter the Recipes

recipe filters

Now, this is major. On every category page (bookmark this one), you’ll find recipe filters to narrow down the results. You can choose multiple selections from as many columns as you’d like.

Here are some examples of when these filters will come in handy:

  • You have multiple dietary restrictions. (Choose from the Diet options.)
  • You need a gluten-free dinner to serve to a guest. (Choose Course > Dinner and Diet > Gluten Free).
  • You need an appetizer for a special Mother’s Day supper. (Choose Course > Appetizer and Season > Spring.)
  • You want a dinner containing avocado and black beans. (Choose Course > Dinner and Ingredient > Avocado and Black beans.)

Tip: If you’re on your phone, click on the green “Search and Filter” button to expand these filtering options.

You can also Sort the recipes by Most Recent (default), Recently Updated and Most Popular (based on the number of comments). I’m always updating older recipes to make them the best they can be, so you might find something that catches your eye under Recently Updated.

Print a Recipe

This feature is the same as the original website, but I’m highlighting it in case you’re unaware. To save paper, hit the Jump to recipe link at the top of the post or scroll down to the recipe at your leisure.

Click the Print button to print only the recipe! Within the print feature, you can adjust the text size to suit your needs.

Send a Recipe to Your Inbox

send recipe to inbox

Above each recipe, you’ll find the option to send a link to the post to your inbox. It’s quick and easy.

This feature is handy if you need to switch from your computer to your phone, or you want to pull up the recipe later at the grocery store, etc.

Save Recipes to Your Collection

Save your favorite Cookie and Kate recipes to your own account and pull them up on any device! This feature relies on a great tool called Slickstream. It’s a little more involved than the option to send a recipe to your inbox because you’ll need to create an account to use it.

You’ll find a Save button next to the Print button in the recipe cards. Click on the Save button to create an account or click the blue button to sign in with your Google account.

Then, you can save all of your favorite Cookie and Kate recipes for future reference. To access your saved recipes, click the Saved link in the menu at the top of the page.

If you used the old site’s recipe saving feature, you can access those recipes at Relish.com. Their tool is no longer updated, so I’ve moved to this one.

View Nutrition Information

view nutrition information

Click on the Show Nutrition button to view a detailed nutrition breakdown for the recipe. This works the same as the old site, but it’s no longer glitchy. Hooray!

Browse Videos

If you love watching recipes come together, this is the place for you. Click on Videos in the top menu to find my latest recipe videos.

I’d love to hear from you.

Sorry I spelled your name wrong, my sisters name is Kathryn. :)

        1. Kathryne Taylor

It’s a tricky one! Sometimes I wish I had the standard spellingโ€”my grandmother added the “e” to her name in high school, and it got passed down to me. Ha!

  2. Nancy

    Love the new website!

I had been getting your newsletter for many years (I voted for the photo that appears on the cover of โ€œLove Real Foodโ€), then about a year or two ago, I realized that I hadnโ€™t gotten one in a while, so I went to your website and signed up again. I hope that never happens again now that you have moved to a domain that a utilizes the latest in technology.

I look forward to seeing what new things you cook up!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

  21. Susan

Sadly the new recipe search page does not work in Safari browser on my Mac laptop.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Hi Susan, I’m sorry to hear that! Your image didn’t come throughโ€”would you mind emailing it to hello@cookieandkate.com so we can figure that out? Thank you for your feedbackโ€”it’s really important to me that this website works well for everyone.

      1. Donna Leone

Love your easy and healthy recipes.

        1. Kathryne Taylor

          Thank you, Donna!

  22. Patty

Some of your recipes are pinable and some are not, please make the all able to be pinned.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Hi Patty! Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I want to be sure I understand the issue. Full-sized images on posts should always be pinable. If you’re trying to pin smaller images like on my home page, those aren’t designed to be pinned because they would just point back to the home page. Is that what you’re experiencing or is it something else?

  23. Jennifer Brown

I love your style and always look to your site to find new recipes. This update is great. Thank you!!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you, Jennifer! I’m so glad to hear that you appreciate it.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thanks, Deb! Hope you’re having a great day.

  26. Michaela

Really well done! Such a nice revision. Really helpful for people like me who enjoy cooking your recipes on a regular basis. For me you are one of the best of all food bloggers :) Me and my family love your style of cooking. Maybe I’m a bit old-fashioned, but I like to print out your recipes and keep some in an old-fashioned wooden box :)
Unfortunately, the beautiful food photos no longer print, even when I click on the images check box. My browser is Safari 17.1 on Apple Mac Sonoma 14.1.1.
Greetings from Michaela (56) from Munich, Germany

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Hi Michaela, thank you for your note! It’s lovely to hear from you. We took our daughter to Munich this summer! I didn’t notice that the photo went missing from the print previews until you and another reader let me know. I’m glad to know that’s an important feature to you. I’ll get it fixed!

      1. Michaela

Thank you! (A recipe is more fun with a picture ;)
How lovely to hear that you have been to Munich. I hope you and your family had a good time in Bavaria!

  27. Chana Zelig

Wow! Congrats and thank you! The new platform clearly took a huge amount of time and effort and it paid off.
Also you mentioned your brother had a terrible accident. I hope he is recovered and ok.
Canโ€™t wait to jump in to the site!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thanks so much, Chana. I appreciate your note! He’s doing well with a prosthetic leg now. All my best to you and your family!

  35. Joani Johnson

I have been following and making your recipes for the past few years. I so appreciate the depth you go to, while explaining your recipes. I have learned so much and enjoy all the tutorials. Best of life, cooking, & keep creating!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you, Joani! I’ll keep the recipes coming. Thank you for being a regular visitor. :)

  36. Carol K Luery

I’m pescatarian, so my diet includes vegetarian in addition to seafood and fish. In your drop-down menu to sort recipes, under Diet, you only have the option for vegan. Why not an option for vegetarians well as a separate one for pescatarian?? The vegan only option does not work for me. Please let me know if there is a workaround or some other logic.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Hi Carol! All of the recipes on this blog are vegetarian. I don’t have any pescetarian recipes. I hope that clears up the confusion!

      1. Carol

How did I not notice that?! Great! I don’t normally go to your website for recipes but get your emails and I guess I just never noticed that ALL the recipes happen to be vegetarian! LOL

        1. Kathryne Taylor

I don’t have a big “vegetarian” label anywhere, but they all are! You’re not the first to be surprised by that. :)

  37. Celine Sim

Love your recipes! Great redesigned websiteโ€”so easy to navigate. Brava, Kathryne!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

      Thanks so much, Celine!

  38. Diane

    Your new website looks fantastic.
    Your recipes are always delicious!
Thanks for all you do, Kathryne!
And I love how your name has an โ€œeโ€ at the end of it because of your grandma!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you so much, Diane! I love having a family name. It’s just a little tricky to spell and Kate is easier. :)

  39. Ivy de Pauw

    Hello Kathryne from the Netherlands!
Your new website looks great, crisp and fresh, beautiful.
I have followed you for a few years now and you are my favorite recipe chef and I have told many others so.
I don’t know if this is possible – perhaps there is a plug-in for that (don’t want to give you extra work) but the one time-consumer for me to make your recipes is the US imperial system. If this could be easily solved with a plug-in (Convert to metric/imperial, click) I would very much appreciate that! Otherwise I will keep on doing that myself, I like your recipes too much for that.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Ivy, thanks so much for your note! I hope you’re having a great dayโ€”it’s lunchtime here but must be dinnertime where you are. Thank you for the suggestion. I’m still searching for a conversion system that really works well. I’ve been afraid to use a couple of others out of concern that the results would be inaccurate. The last thing I want to do is offer a feature that ruins the recipe!

  40. Suzanne

Congratulations on your beautiful new website. Honestly I would use your site any way I found it but the new features make it much more fun and useable. Thank you for your hard work.
And, welcome to Texas. We retired years ago in the beautiful Texas hill country. I was a trained chef and we are vegetarian so I like to stay tuned to new trends and ideas. I miss the creativity in a professional kitchen. C & K is one of my favorite resources to fulfill that need. Keep up the good work!
We invite you to visit our organic garden 40 miles from Austin. Currently we are bringing in tomatoes, lots of winter greens and the freezer is full of our organic produce but May, June is the most prolific time of the year. Hope you come out for a visit in 2025 and weโ€™ll send you home with fresh organic produce. Call it a trade :)

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Hi Suzanne, thanks so much for your kind note! My husband and I have been wanting to visit Austin. Your farm sounds amazing! I’ve saved your note and you might just hear from me next year. :)

  41. Anna

Hi Kate! I love the website redesign and your helpful navigation tips. Brilliant. I am so delighted to see your Best Lentil Soup on the #1 list of your Favorites, Soup, Meals, etc lists. It is my favorite C+K recipe of all time and I have made it for years.

Congrats on your accomplishments, many of us have been eagerly awaiting this big reveal. Looking forward to returning here weekly.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you for your kind note, Anna! I’m happy to hear that you appreciate the new website. That lentil soup would be perfect on a cold day like today!

  42. Kassidy Noto

So excited to use the new website! I love the ‘save’ feature! Always my go-to website for clean recipe ideas!

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you so much, Kassidy! :)

  43. Frankie

I really appreciate how your website is so intuitive. From Canada with love.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Thank you so much, Frankie! I’m happy to hear that. :)

  44. Nancy MacDonald (wandering misfit)

I love the new website (knew anything you did would be wonderful). Like the addition of filter the recipes. However I found your other website easy to use. Hoping you will print another book it changed my life and eating habits (so much healthier). I print your recipes (old fashion, older lady) and have created divisions of “books” of soups, rice pasts, veggies, appetizers/snacks, breakfast, drinks, breads, breakfast, desserts. other. I tend to cook your recipes so often just add meat for hubby and keep mine vegetarian more often than not. Have lost 20+ pounds and 3 clothing sizes using your cooking (and exercising daily, which I have the energy to do since changing my eating. So thankful for you and happy a friends Doctor recommended your cookbook to her and I was at the appointment with her. Forever grateful to him and you for all the work you do. Happy Holidays and Best Wishes to you and yours. Blessings.

    1. Kathryne Taylor

Nancy, thank you so much for your note! Wow, I commend you for taking good care of yourself, and I’m honored to hear that my recipes are helping your efforts. Hooray! Happy holidays!!!

  45. Kathleen

Kate, Iโ€™ve been a follower for a few years, enjoyed your last cookbook, and want to tell you how much that I appreciate your healthy, delicious, and beautiful dishes. I hosted a few parties and family meals over the holiday with your help. I find that you offer so many great tips and details that takes a lot of the stress out of the planning and prep work. The new website looks great; I have already passed it on to a few friends. Thank you for your work and contribution to healthy, plant-based eating!
