Tabbouleh fans, have you tried making it with quinoa? This recipe is a fun variation on classic tabbouleh made with quinoa instead of bulgur wheat. It turns our favorite Lebanese salad into a gluten-free dish. The quinoa is fluffy and has a somewhat nutty taste, but overall, the flavor profile is quite similar.

Since I already changed one primary ingredient, I took the liberty of adding some chickpeas and feta cheese, more ingredients that you would not expect to find in tabbouleh. They’re entirely optional and absolutely delicious. They make the salad more hearty; if you use both, it could qualify as a light meal on its own.

This herbaceous salad is so refreshing on a warm day. It features fresh parsley and mint, tomato and cucumber, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and quinoa. The proportions remain true to the traditional recipe, so it contains more parsley than quinoa, and the lemon packs a punch. I think you’ll love it.

These refried beans are flavored with sautéed onion, roasted or fresh red bell pepper, garlic, cumin, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Thanks to the red bell pepper and cumin, they have a subtle Cuban vibe that plays beautifully with the earthy flavor of the black beans.

Most cranberry salsa recipes are too sweet, calling for as much as one cup sugar. This one is well-balanced, and you can adjust it to suit your taste buds.

This cranberry salsa recipe was inspired by one my late grandmother brought to our family’s Christmas celebration years ago. It was festive and colorful, and I just loved it.

With my grandmother’s recipe in mind, I improvised this salsa last year when our friend Tessa and her husband came over. My grandmother served her salsa with cream cheese, but I noticed we all ignored the cream cheese and kept going back for more salsa. I don’t think it requires an accompaniment, but you’ll find serving suggestions below.

Let’s warm up with a mug of cinnamon tea! Cinnamon tea (té de canela in Spanish) has become my drink of choice during cool weather. It’s hot and nicely spicy but not overwhelmingly so. Cinnamon’s inherent sweetness makes it a well-balanced drink. Plus, it makes the house smell amazing.

If you enjoy the spice factor in masala chai tea, you’ll love cinnamon tea, and it’s so easy to make. Make your drink creamy with a splash of milk, or sweeten it with honey if you’d like. I like mine plain or with a splash of heavy cream, depending on my mood.

This cinnamon tea is caffeine-free, so it’s perfect for sipping past noon. My husband and I have gotten into the habit of sipping cinnamon tea after our daughter goes to bed, which is a lovely way to unwind.
