I was worried about slicing but the chopstick method was perfect (I’m sure it also helped that I used a newly sharpened knife!) I had to make a lot so I placed the potatoes all together in a 9×13 glass casserole and baked it that way. It came out beautifully and made a great presentation at the table. My guests were quite impressed. Thank you so much for sharing this!

Or if you don’t have a wooden spoon perhaps you have two kitchen utensils with wooden handles, then put the potato between the handles. But a wooden spoon is the best. No need to make the potato flat.
You can also put som breadcrumbs in the butter you use at the end. Will give you a little crunch.
